PIRACY IN N. BORNEO

Thpre have so tar been 22 piracies on the north-east coast of North Borneo this year, the Civil Lord of the Admiralty, Mr lan OrrEwing, told the House of Commons today. " In answer to a question, Mr Orr-Ewing said that three people had beyn killed, three were missing and 21 were wounded as a result of the piracies. Mr Orr-Ewing slid that the Royal Navy’s operations against the pirates took the form of frequent, but irregular. patrols. The patrols are planned in close collaboration with the Governor of North Borneo and the local police. “Three pirate vessels, and 35 suspected pirates were arrested last month,” Mr Orr-Ewing said.
