DEDICATION OF GATES

Reliua Hostel Ceremony The carved palisade at the entrance to the Rehua Maori Boys' Hostel and the meeting house tn Springfield road will be dedicated on Sunday afternoon. The gates have been carved by Mr H. Toka. the Maori carver who was in charge of the carving of the meeting-house. Maori boys from the hostel will perforin traditional dances at the ceremony. Sir Eruera Tirikatene. member of Parliament for Southern Maori, will welcome the Minister of Maori Affairs (Mr Hanan). The gates will be presented by Messrs D. Wilson and N. B. Turner on behalf of the Christchurch Rotary Club, and the Rev. W. E. Falkingham. superintendent of th* 1 Methodist Central Mission in Christchurch, will acknowledge the presentataion. Others who will take part in the ceremony are the chairman of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Churches and chairman of the standing committee of the North Can terbury Methodist Synod (the Rev. H. G Brown> and the Rev G. I. Laurerison. of Auckland, superintendent of home and Maori mission work for the Methodist Church in New Zealand. The sermon will be nreached by the Rev D Manihera. a Maori ministei from Waikato and chairman of the Tainui Trust Board The vice-president of the Methodist Church in New Zealand (Mr H de R Flesher) will thank Mr Hanan. Maori visitors will be invited to star for tea at the Methodist Central Mission and attend a service to be held in the church afterwards conducted by Mr l>aurenson and Mr Manihera.
