Police Shoot At Rioting Students

(N.Z. Press Association; SANTIAGO, (Chile), June 7. < Police fired on hundreds of students who rioted in Santiago last night. Four persons were reported to have been seriouslywounded. The rioting, during a twoday nationwide students’ strike, began when demonstrators began assaulting police in patrol cars, Associated Pi-ess said. Earlier, police had used tear gas. clubs and water hoses to scatter stone-throw-ing students. About 20 police were injured by the stones, and 38 youths were arrested. More trouble was expected today.
