The full teaching staff at Meridan Church of England Girls’ School at Strathfleld, a western suburb, will hold a one-day stoppage tomorrow in protest against the departure of the head-mistress, Miss Evelyn James. More than 30 teachers decided to hold the stoppage after they were told a twodays’ notice of dismissal given to Miss James had been withdrawn and her resignation accepted. At the school assembly yesterday morning. Miss James told the pupils she would not be with them much longer because the school council had asked her to leave. "This was a great shock to me,” she said. Miss James today declined to comment.
