The British Foreign Secretary (Lord Home) denied in Lisbon yesterday that any threats bad beeti made to Portugal about withdrawing British support in the United Nations unless Portugal changed presentation before the United Nations of its case in Africa. "There have been no threats only very friendly, useful, and frank ddsoussiions.” he said at a press conference on the last day of a four-day visit. The objectives of Western countries with territories in Africa were very honourable. The future prosperity of Africa depended on the support of those Western nations. ‘‘But we all ought to take the trouble to tell the world wbst we have done and what we are doing,” he said. Lord Home said he had not come to te’il Portugal how to run its own affairs. "We have slightly different methods to develop our overseas territories and we had a very useful discussion about the various methods employed,” he said.
