FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—An anti-cyclone is moving eastwards over the North Island. A cold front is moving northeastwards over the South Island. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate to fresh south-westerlies developing this morning in South Canterbury and spreading to other areas; partly cloudy at first but showers and colder temperatures with the southwesterlies. Outlook: weather soon clearing. Westland.—Fresh northerlies backing to southwesterlies; unsettled with rain at first followed by changeable, showery weather. Outlook: occasional showers. Nelson and Marlborough.—North-westerlies at first, strong in some exposed positions; weather becoming showery late today and a change to southerlies tonight. Outlook: soon clearing.
