FOREGAST TO MIDMIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone is moving eastwards over the Tasman Sea. A disturbed westerly airstream prevails over the south of the South Island. Forecast:—

Canterbury.—Light to moderate variable winds; weather partly cloudy: temperatures cool. Outlook: partly cloudy with frosts. West Coast.—Moderate westerlies; cloudy skies with occasional rain in the south and scattered showers in the north; cool temperatures. Outlook: similar conditions.

Nelson and Marlborough.—Moderate winds from a northerly quarter; fresh about Cook Strait; partly cloudy; rather cool temperatures. Outlook: partly cloudy with frosts.
