Car Found In Harbour

IN Z Press Association) INVERCARGILL, May 28. A young man was found drowned, trapped in his car. in 35ft of water in the Bluff Harbour this afternoon. He was:

John William Watson, aged 24. of 29 Boyne street. Bluff.

Mr Watson was reported missing when he failed to return home after visiting the Sydney Star with two friends

A search of the new island harbour revealed marks indicating that a car had gone over the edge between number 2 and 3 berths. There was also oil on the water.

At 1.15 p.m., the car was found 15ft out from the wharf edge, with the body inside. The body was recovered with the help of the Southland Harbour Board’s diver at 4.30 p.m., and the car soon after, with the aid of a crane.
