Centenary Function For Staff Of “The Press”

To celebrate the centenary of "The Press.” the chairman and directors of the Christchurch Press Company gave a cocktail party and buffet dinner for members of the staff on Saturday evening. About 500 attended the function, which was held at the Winter Garden. Hosts for the occasion were Messrs D. W. J. Gould <chairman>, P. D. Hall. F. S. Wilding, H. B. Anderson and A. A. Macfarlane. Mr Gould expressed the company’s appreciation to the staff for its loyal service. Mrs Gould wore a navy •ilk frock featuring a gentlydraped collar falling to a deep vee in front. She teamed her dress with a matching navy "wimsy’’ cocktail hat. Mrs Hall chose a coffee cotton jersey frock. It was styled with a slim skirt, ruched at the back under a floating panel, and finely pleated bodice. It was worn with a matching net cocktail hat. Her dress was styled with fl tailored collar and softly pleated skirt, and she teamed it with a black stole. Mrs Macfarlane chose heavy black satin for her dress. It' featured a high boater neckline, threequarter length sleeves, and deep inverted pleats on the skirt. She wore a silver ‘•■wimsy” cocktail hat.
