£4O Prize To G. H. Murfitt G. H. Murfitt June., of Riccarton. won a £4O cash prize as the most successful trainer at the Waimate Racing Club's meeting on Saturday. Murfitt was level with E. P. Corboy, of Washdyke, after the seventh race, so everything depended on how the Murfitt-trained The Drifter fared in the last race The Drifter added that extra point to Murfitt’s tally by running fourth. Other points-getters foi Murfitt were Baywyn. winner of the Trial Plate; Reclaim, third in the steeples: Pitch, third in the Waimate County Publicans' Hack Handicap; and Tremble, fourth in the Waitangi Champion Hack. Murfitt has now won three trainers’ prizes in the last few weeks. He won £2O at the Oarnaru autumn meeting, and a heater at the Marlborough meeting. T. R. Howe, of Awapuni, beat him for the Nelson prize by one point.
