YOUNG WOMAN PILOT
Instructor Not Picked Ip (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. May 28. A 16-y-ear-old shorthand typist. Miss Helen Putt, of Mangere, flew solo last weekend. She is believed to be only the second girl of her age to do so in New Zealand. She flew solo unintentionally against this morning. “Gosh. I hope I don’t get into trouble.” she said on landing. “I was supposed to pick up the instructor on the other side of the Ardmore airfield before I took off, but I was concentrating so hard I completely forgot about him.”
Miss Putt began her flj’ing training in March.
