Van Cheetah Destroyed
Van Cheetah, a candidate for the Members' Handicap ait Addington on Saturday, put a foot through the floor of the horse float in which he was being taken to the course and injured a leg so badly that he had to be destroyed. A six-year-old gelding by Van White from Gay Sheba, Van Cheetah was trained at Riangiora by W. L. Heron for L. E. Farr and W. L. Heron, jun. His only win this season was gained at Hutt Park last December when he beat Spinster Scott over 12 furlongs. Van Cheetah recorded several sound placings and looked capable of several further wins.
