Arrangements In Finland (N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 26 Finland is leaving no stone unturned to make its 1961 world athletic games, which will begin early in July, one of the biggest athletic meetings outside the Olympic Games. Four New Zealanders. M. Halberg. P. Snell, G. Philpott and B. Magee, are among the 300 athletes who will participate. One hundred and fifty will be Finnish and the others will be foreigners. Eighteen countries have so far confirmed their participation. They are; New Zealand, West Germany, South Africa. West Indies, Britain, Poland. Australia. Russia, United States. Greece. Iceland, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Jugoslavia, Kenya, Rumania, and Czechoslovakia.
