Judge Reduces Sentence
An appeal by Victor Hana Men rath, aged 18, a university student, against conviction on • charge of dangerous driving on the Main North road. Belfast, on J«nuary 28, was dismissed by Mr Justice Macartbur in the Supreme Court yesterday. His Honour, in considering the appellant’s appeal
against sentence, held that the Magistrate's sentence of a £2O fine and cancellation of Mencath’a licence for two years was “manifestly excessive.” He reduced the sentence to a £lO fine and cancellation of Merrrath’s licence for one year. Mr P. T Mahon appeared for the Crown, and Mr A Hearn for Mennath.
