Paparua’s View Of Conference
He was glad that the representatives present had not taken the reported attitude of the Heathcote County Council, which was that such meetings were a waste of busy county officers' time and that the problem would be overcome by a few prosecutions, said the chairman of the Paparua County Council (Mr J. H. Weaver) yesterday. Mr Weaver was addressing a meeting of representatives of Christchurch local authorities celled to discuss the indiscriminate dumping of rubbish.
Representatives of the Christchurch City Council. Riccarton Borough Council, and the Halswell, Waimairi, and Paparua county councils attended. The Canterbury Public Relations Officer (Mr E. Q. Beckett) was also present “I want to assure you that this further meeting has not been called without a good deal of consideration, and that if we could have avoided it, we certainly would have done so,” said Mr Weaver.
