“No Surprise,” Says P.M.
(N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 26. The Prime Minister .Mr Holyoake) said today that Denmark’s decision to join the European Common Market if Britain joins came as no surprise. “Denmark and Britain are closely tied together in trade,” Mr Holyoake told a press conference. “Its significance to us, of course, is that Denmark produces the same commodities as New Zealand, notably dairy produce," he said. Mr Holyoake would not comment further on the implications of Denmark's decision.
