HUSSEIN’S MARRIAGE
Jordan Throne “Shaken” (H.Z.P.A -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. May 26. The Hashemite monarchy of Jordan has been severely shaken. King Hussein’s standing has dropped, and a nearmutiny in the Army has been narrowly avoided. These were some of the immediate results of the marriage of King Hussein to English-born Muna el Hussein, formerly Miss Toni Gardiner, yesterday, the “Daily Telegraph" reported The marriage provided President Nasser’s Cairo propaganda machine with a weapon for use whenever he decided the time was oppor-
tune to resume his efforts to destroy the pro-Western kingdom, it said. The only Jordanians wno felt happiness about the wedding were the Opposition, who wanted to destroy the monarchy, the Communists, Baathists and Nasserites. said the newspaper. They were congratulating themselves. They felt the marriage bad played into their hands.
