UNIONISM DECISION

Law Next Session (BX Press Association* ’ WELLINGTON, May 25. The Government caucus had come to certain decisions on voluntary unionism, said the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) tonight when answering reporters’ questions at the end of the first day's discussions. It was now a matter for the law draughtsman, but there would be no depart ire from the Governor ent’s stated policy.

The restoration of voluntary unionism would be given effect in the coming session of Parliament, said Mr Holyoake. Certain preferences would be provided for the membership of unions. When caucus rose at 10.30 p.m. licensing reform was still being discussed and decisions had been taken on the question of barmaids and restaurant licences. “1 consider that what has been agreed to will be a substantial amendment,” said Mr Holyoake. The caucus will reassemble again tomorrow for the last day of its two-day sitting.
