TENDERS GOVERNMENT OF GHANA. VOLTA RIVER PROJECT. The Government of Ghana hereby invites sealed Bids, which will be public, y opened m Accra on September 5, 1961. for the work covered by each of the fo'dowing proposed Contracis: AKOSOMBO DEVELOPMENT Contract No.— A-4 Supply of Turbines and Governors. A-5 Supply of Generators. Transformers and Major Electrical Equipment. A-6 Supply of Craned and Hoists. A-7 Supply of Penstocks. A-8 Supply of Gates. Trashracks and Rolling Hatch Covers. TRANSMISSION SYSTEM L-l Construction of. 161 kv Transmission Lines. S-l Supply of Equipment for 161 kv Substations S-2 Construction of 161 kv Substations. S-3 Construrt: on of Warehouses and Personnel Housing. Bids are invited only from firms and associations of firms who are prepared to submit complete Bids for a’.l the Work required by any of the individual Contracts listed above, except that consideration will be given to Bids for Work covered by each separate Schedule of Contract No. A-5. A bidder submitting a Bid for Contract No. S-l must also submit a complete Bid for Contract No. S-2. and vice versa, since these two Contracts will be awarded jointly to one firm or association of firms. Bidders may if they so desire submit Combined Bids for the Performance of a combination of any two or more of the Contracts lired above for the Akosombo Development and/or Transmission System Each Combined Bid will be considered an indivisible offer to perform al! of the Contracts included within the Combined B:d, if this is desired by the Bidder and is explicitly so stated. Bids will be considered only from firms whose financial resources. technical ability and experience are commensurate with the Work to be performed under the respective Contracts, who have satisfactorily completed comparable work on other projects, and who submit with their Bids the preliminary security required for each proposed Contract. A Bid which does not conform to the Instructions to Bidders may be rejected. The Government reserves the right to reject any or all Bids, and to accept any Bid considered advantageous to the Government.

CONTRACT NO. A-4 wi’l include the supply of four (41 Francis-tjpe hydraulic turbines each having a rated output of 176 500 horsepower when operating at 115.4 r.p.m. under a rated net head of 313 feet; and four <4l hydraulic turbine governors; all delivered on the dock at Tema, Ghana. CONTRACT NO. A-5 will include the supply of four (4) generators each rated at 142,000 kva; the generator bus; four (4) three-phase transformers each rated at 163,000 kva and 161 kv; metering, relaying and control switch-boards; and station service load centre substations. including 400-volt draw out air circuit breakers; a?l delivered on the dock at Tema. Ghana.

CONTRACT NO. A-6 will include the supply of one <ll powerhouse gantry crane of 500 tons rated capacity; one (1) intake gantry crane of 85 tons rated capacity: four (4i intake gate hoists; and two (2i mobile spillway hoists; ail delivered on the dock at Tema. Ghana

A-7 will include the supply of approximately 3000 tons at fabricated steel 34-foot diameter penstock sections for four (4) complete penstocks and the upper and lower elbows for two (2) additional penstocks and all supporting rings and expansion joints, all fabricated and delivered in Ghana, with an option for the Government to purchase sections for all six (6) penstocks CONTRACT NO. A-8 will include the supply of approximately 2500 tons of slide and wheel gates, gate guides and trashracks for the power intake. draft tubes, and 35-foot diameter diversion tunnel; twelve (13) spillway talntor gates each 43 feet by 38.5 feet; and six (6) rolling generator natch covers; all delivered on ttedock at Tema. Ghana. CONTRACT NO. L-l will include the supply and constmefron of approximately 100 miles of double-circuit transmission lines for System I and approximately 400 miles of ringtlecircu* transmission lines for System H. all designed for 161 kv with steel or aluminium towers and all-aluminium conductor.
