Altogether there are four women aboard the Simara They are Mrs Alfhild Gregersen, who is married to the third engineer; Mrs Annette Hammer, the boatswain’s wife; and Mrs Astrid Olsen, the wife of a mechanician, all of whom are stewardesses, while the fourth woman is Miss Rigmor Thoresen, the ship's radio operator. Normally, the Simara is engaged on the North Atlantic trade, said Mr Nils Lundestad. the chief officer, yesterday. He is temporarily in charge of the Simara, as her master, Captain H. Osnes, was taken to hospital from anchorage for an operation on Friday evening. Mr Lundestad said he expected that another master would be flown out from Norway before the vessel leaves the New Zealand coast. The third officer had also been taken off the ship in the United States because of illness, said Mr Lundestad so that he and the second officer now had their hands fairly full. The Simara is expected to sail for Dunedin tomorrow to complete discharge.
