BURNSIDE PARK WICKETS
Two Sought By Club
The Waimairi County Council is unable to begin any work on the wickets at Burnside Park at present, but will give consideration to a request from the Burnside Cricket Club- for improved facilities at the end of the next cricket season The elub had approached the council asking for two wickets next season Past experience had shown that Jellie Park was definitely unsuitable, as no roller was available and children and others could not be kept off the wicket area It was therefore considered that the two wickets should be at Burnside Park The present wicket at the park was merely farmland topdressed with soil, said the club. It again referred tr its application for permission to construct a concrete practice wicket, and aisr asked the council to review the charge of £5O made for the use of the two wickets during the 1960-81 season.
