(from Ous Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, May 18. The view that some local bodies, by installing parking meters in the main highway streets of the towns for which they were responsible, were obstructing the work of the National Roads Board, was expressed by Mr W. H. Brown. M.P.. at the board’s meeting yesterday. When the board was discussing a request for the e=.ablishment of parking areas in Invercargill streets. Mr Brown said that the installation of parking meters in many cases tended to restrict the flow of traffic. “A glaring example is that of Timaru, where meters line most of the town area,’’ said Mr Brown. “As a result, the main highway is frequently reduced to a one-car lane, because of vehicles manoeuvring in and out of the metered areas.”
