CRICKET TOURISTS SEEM SURE OF WIN
Gaunt May Be Out Through Injury

CAMBRIDGE, May 18. The Australians seem certain to win their third successive match of the tour, against Cambridge University, and they may be able to finish it in two days.
The university will resume today at 49 for three —400 behind the tourists’ 449 for three declared. Today is a long playing day—six hours and a half—so there is plenty of time for the Australians to force a win.
They will be keen to do this, because on Friday they face considerable travelling. They have to return to London and then cross England to Wales for the match against Glamorgan at Cardiff starting on Saturday. However, the pitch is still good and the Australian bowlers will get no more help than the university bowlers did yesterday. In addition, the fast bow’ler, R. Gaunt, will not decide until later in the morning whether he will be
able to take his place in the attack. Strained Mmele Gaunt strained a muscle in his left side when bowling just before stumps yesterday, and left the fleM for immediate heat treatment He went to bed early last night to rest. His absence will be a big blow, because without him the only regular bowlers are F. Misson and I. Quick. Quick bowled more accurately in his spell yesterday evening than at any previous stage of the tour, and was rewarded with two wickets. A lot will depend on him today and he will probably be assisted by K. Mackay when the shine is off the ball. Cambridge's batting Is not strong and it will find it difficult to match In any way the Australians’ run-getting spree of yesterday, when four men got centuries. The century-makers were C. McDonald and W. Lawry. each 100, B. Booth 118, and K. Mackay 106 not out. This was the first time in 13 years that four Australian batsmen had made separate hundreds in the same innings in England. The last time was in 1948 when D. G. Bradman, S. J. Loxton, W. A. Brown, and R. Saggers each made centuries in a total of 721 against Essex. Scores were:— AUSTRALIANS First Innings W.
