RESTRICTIONS ON HAAST ROAD
Bailey Bridge To Be Replaced
Restrictions have been placed on the road between Wanaka and Haast while workmen prepare for the replacement of the Haast Bailey bridge with a permanent structure.
According to the secretary of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) (Mr E. S Palliser) the Ministry of Works will close the highway at the bridge from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., daily. ' The restriction will operate from Monday to Saturday inclusive. When the road was open, the highest speed near the bridge would be five miles an hour, and the heaviest load 12 tons, he said.
