PERMITS ISSUED FOR BUILDING
Boom Continues In Linwood
Linwood is still the city area where most money is spent on building, according to the last summary for building permits for last month’s building issued by the city council. There were 96 permits issued for Linwood building, valued at £113,278 in April, 1961, a slight increase on April, 1960, when 85 permits worth £101,749 were issued. In the whole of Christchurch last month 320 permits were issued for buildings valued at £333,031. Fees accruing to the council from the permits were £1365 10s. In April, 1960, there were 334 permits issued for buildings valued at £304,977. Sumner is still the area where least is spent. Last month eight permits were issued, for building valued at £Bl2O. In April, 1960, permits for building valued at £1220 were issued. The central outer area is the next lowest. Last month permits were issued for building valued at £5665. a drop of about £2OOO from April, last year.
