Thousands Evacuated IN.Z.P.A.-Reu ter—Copyright) DJAKARTA, May 8 Ten thousand persons have been evacuated to high ground following the collapse of 360 feet of newly-repaired dykes on the Tjltarum river, near the West Java town of Kartalaja. According to reports from Bandung, repairs to the dykes were only recently completed after the embankments were torn out by disastrous flooding earlier in the year. The 10.000 evacuees come from six villages which are now under more than three feet of water.
