Cards For Slum Children
Sir.—You recently published a letter from me appealing for postage stamps and cigarette cards for children of the slums. These have now begun to arrive, and I should like to thank readers through your columns for their kindness. Unfortunately it will not be possible for me to thank everyone personally. The children are most grateful, but I fear many decline to ■write owing to their inability to express themselves clearly, or to spell properly. Others have so many duties to perform at home or on paper rounds, etc., that they really have little or no time for writing. I am sure your readers will understand. Any further stamps or cigarette cards will be welcomed: it does not matter how old they are, or their condition, and trade cards from health foods or cereals would do.—Yours, etc., ERNEST F.
