DEPUTATION TO COUNCIL

Convenience Wanted At Dallington

Because it feels that a convenience at the corner of McBratney’s road and Locksley avenue, Dallington. is urgently needed, the Christchurch Transport Board is to send a deputation to the Christchurch City Council. At its meeting yesterday, the board learned that the council stood by an earlier decision not to erect the public convenience.

“I am very disappointed with the council’s decision." said the chairman <Mr J. Palmer). “This area is used frequently by the public and there are no public conveniences near"

Describing the council’s policy as "short-sighted" Mr H. E. Denton said a petition had been taken up among local residents. The nearest conveniences were at the Bower Hotel. The deputation will consist of Messrs J. Shankland, Palmer, and Denton.
