Boxing NOMURA KNOCKS OUT STANLEY
Sensational Bout In Auckland (N.Z. Press Association) . AUCKLAND. May 1. Billy Stanley, the Queensland champion, was knocked out by Johnny Nomura, the New Zealand light-heavy-weight champion, in the second round of their professional catchweight bout at the Y.M.C.A. Stadium this evening. It was a sudden and dramatic end to a bout which had begun sensationally with Nomura himself being stopped in his tracks with a savage right to the jaw in the first round.
Nomura took the compulsory count of eight, most of it standing on his feet. In the second round, by ample use of a left jab, Nomura struck Stanley two tremendous blows, first a left and then a right, which sent him crashing to the floor.
