WLAN KILLED BY LOG
Accident At Sawmill (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. May 1. When a log from which he was trimming branches rolled on him at about 1.50 pm yesterday at Bennett's sawmill. Waianakarua, a man was believed to have been killed instantly He was: Leslie Alan Duthie, aged 24. single, the son of Mr and Mrs A. G. Duthie, of Herbert.
The accident was not seen by anyone, but soon after, another workman. Mr Robert Randall, who was some distance away, found Mr Duthie pinned under the log. about 50ft long with an 18in girth, which had been felled previously. Mr Randall went about a haif-mile to the sawmill for assistance and the log was removed by other workmen.
