LAUNCH IN DISTRESS
Breakdown In Engine (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. May 1. The Island Bay fishing launch. Princess lolanthe, limped into port late this, afternoon and ended day-longj fears for her safety. The Princess lolanthe, skippered by Mr Liberato Marino, of Island Bay, Wellington.! sent out "Mayday” signals at 9.30 this morning. The vessel’s engines had broken down, and she was drifting helplessly 12 to 15 j miles off Paremata. The Wei- j lington Search and Rescue Organisation received the calls, and directed all nearby fishing boats to rush to the; disabled boat’s aid. However. the Princess; lolanthe radioed at 11 a.m that the crew of three had managed to repair the engine and that the boat was returning to port at half speed.
