£30,000 Lottery A pproved

Mr-Gote. who is author of the plan for a bi war lottery, said that in the meantime the number of tickets in each consultation would be unlimited. Until the system could be changed, it was not possible to have a fixed number of tiekete and a fixed closing time. "We shall run three or four of the new lotteries with unlimited sales, and we shall then see whether we can change the system and limit the number,” said Gotz. Further details will be announced later. In the meantime. the present' art union will eease in July or early August, just before the new lotterv is introduced. There will be 1430 'prizes

in the new lottery, making up the prize money of £30,000. The present art

union has 510 prizes, making £lO.OOO. It is hoped to run the new lottery ** frequently as the present art 'union. Prise List The new prize list will l>e: — First prize, £12,000; second prize. £2500; third prize. £1000; fourth pHxe £700; fifth prize. £600; sixth prize. £500; seventh prize, £400; eighth prize, £300; ninth prize, £200; tenth prize. £175; 15 prizes of £lOO each; 20 prizes of £5O each: 30 prizes of £25 each; 40 prizes of £2O each; 200 prizes of £lO each; and 1115 prizes of £5 egctlg , .
