Canterbury centre threequarters, S. K. Henderson, who suffered concussion during a friendly Rugby match at Lincoln College last week has recovered completely and will play today for Old Boys against Sydenham. The other Old Boys player who injured his shoulder in the same match, P. J. Morrissey will not be able to play for another few weeks.

One of New Zealand’s most itinerant Rugby players and administrators, Mr J. D. Morton, has returned to Christchurch, and he has been nominated by the Christchurch club for the position of Canterbury A selector. As a first five-eighths. Mr Morton played for several leading provinces in the early post-war years, and he has been a Canterbury selector before. The club has nominated Mr P. K. Rhind, who was a selector last year, for the position of forwards selector.

National honours appear to lie invitingly ahead once more for Miss Susan Grigg, in the light of her success in the Canterbury women’s golf champion-

ship at Shirley this week. There was little at fault with Miss Grigg’s game and in her peak performances—in Thursday's semifinal and final—she played golf of the highest calibre.

Canterbury soccer this season may be without the services Of D. Worthington, the City player who appeared on the wing in the provincial side last year. Worthington. who last season qualified for his national coaching badge, was injured recently in a practice match, and may have torn ligaments behind the knee.

A marriage between two people prominent in sporting circles took place in Wellington on Saturday when J. R. Watt was married to Miss Betty Thorner. Watt is well known as an All Black three-quarter and Miss Thorner as a women’s cricket and hockey representative. Included among the guests were All Blacks and New Zealand women cricketers.

It his play continues to be as impressive as it was against High School Old Boys on Saturday, A. D. Coleman, the Lincoln College first five-eighths, will be a strong contender for a place in the Canterbury team this season. Coleman. who learned his Rugby at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, played for the Canterbury under 20 team in 1955 and 1956. was in the Canterbury country team in 1957, and twice played for Canterbury last season.
