PAUSES PRODUCTION OF FERTILISER
New Output Peak Reached Output of fertiliser from all works in New Zealand during the year ended June 30, 1960, reached a new* peak of 1,128,477 tons, compared with the previous record of 1,055,287 tons in 1955-56, said Mr J. M. Paterson, chairman of Kempthorne Prosser and Company’s New Zealand Drug Company, Ltd., 'at the annual meeting in Dunedin yesterday. It was now obvious that there had been a handsome recovery from the low point in 1958-59. when total deliveries in the country amounted to only 915.703 tons. 23 P.C. Rise During the subsequent period fertiliser output had thus risen by 23 per cent Mr Paterson quoted from an address by Sir Bruce Levy to the New Zealand Fertiliser Manufacturers’ Research Association. Sir Bruce Levy stated that until the industry expanded its output to two million or even three million tons annually, the full potential from the land would never be obtained. Santos Par Issue.—Santos, Ltd,, Adelaide, will make a new issue on the basis of one for two held on May 12. The shares of 2s 6d each will be issued at par and will be payable in full on application. Applications will close on June 16. A report of the company’s oil searching activities will be sent to stockholders soon, directors say.
