COMMERCIAL Australian Shares Firm But N.Z. Issues Weak
. Australian shares traded in New Zealand yesterday made nine gains and four losses. Nine New Zealand issues were firmer, but 11 sold at lower prices. Turnovers were again well maintained.
Australian Consolidated Industries, Factors and Mount Isa rnaae the best gains among the Australians. No large falls were recorded. Standard Insurance shares again fluctuated. Yesterday’s prices ranged from 2s to 3s 6d, compared to 3s to 4s 6d the previous day.
Small gains were made by shares in several sections of the quotation list. Gear Meat rights sold at 8s to 8s 3d, compared with 8s 3d to 8s 8d on Wednesday. Ballins Industries, in first business since Easter, fell Is to Ils 6d H. 8., Hay’s notes and rights, John Chambers and Forest Products also fell appreciably.
