Dieldrin To Go
Manufacturer! of dipping material! have been adviaed that from September 30 it is proposed to deregister as dipping materials preparations containing dieldrin or aldrin. The Director of the Animal Industry Division of the Department of Agriculture, Mr J. E. Mcllwaine, confirmed this yesterday. The purpose of the han on the use of preparations containing these ingredients is understood to be to protect the purity of New Zealand lamb and meat exports. The action follows investigations by the Department of Agriculture and Health Department, Mr Mcllwaine said it was felt that there would be other insecticides available that would be perfectly safe but would still do the job effectively. Manufacturers have been given seven months notice of the proposed change so that they can make arrangements accordingly.
