Spinners Hit
The Lancaster Park stow spin attack, supported by keen, fielding and directed by extremely able captaincy, has seldom been really collared during the champion team’s remarkable period of ascendancy over the last four seasons. Yet from time to time batsmen armed with quick footwork and firm reso- ’ lution have proved that they can be hit. Last Saturday in the last half-hour of play, two batsmen who like to hit the ball, E. R. Morris and B. Hopkins, changed the complexion of the West ChristchurchUniversity innings with a partnership of 46 scored in only 29 minutes, the time that Morris was at the wickets. By attacking the spinners when they were tiring at the end of the day, Morris and Hopkins have made West Christchurch - University’s task considerably easier when they resume. Earlier in the season P. P. W. Morris, of the same club, gave a grand display of forcing batting against Lancaster ' Park.
