TAX EVADER FINED
False Returns Admitted (N.Z. Press Association) MASTERTON, March 21. On seven charges of filing false returns of income Ivor Selwyn Moody, aged 54, a farmer, of Waihakeke, near Carterton, was final a total of £2OO, with costs £32 Ils, in the Magistrate’s Court at Masterton today by Mr W. H. Carson, S.M. An income tax deficiency of £1637 and a Social Security deficiency of £373 were admitted by Moody, when he pleaded guilty to seven charges of filing false returns of income for the years 1950 to 1952 and 1954 to 1958 inclusive. Mr B. H. Hleckwood. for the Inland Revenue Department, said the deficiencies in income returned over the period covered by the charges amounted to £4574. Clothing Stolen.— Several hundred pounds' worth of clothing was taken by thieves who raided the main Auckland premises 6f New Zealand Drycleaners and Dyers, Ltd., on Monday night. Most of the clothing was awaiting cleaning.—(P.A.)
