APPLICATIONS are invited for scholarships in the John Curtin School of Medical Research. In general, applicants should have one of the following qualifies* , tions:—M.B., 8.5.; M.Sc.; B.Sc. (Hons.) or their equivalent, but in the case of the Department of Biochemistry applicants will be expected to have had train* ing in biochemistry and in chemistry. Scholars will normally enrol for a Ph.D. degree. The scholarships will be awarded in the first instance for two years, but may be renewed for a third year. The basic scholarship allowance is £A925, but for scholars with appropriate medical qualifications it is £A1347. Married scholars with children receive additional allowances for dependants. Magrath—Chemistry of phosphorylguanidines and phosphoric esters of biologuical interest. EXPERIMENTAL PATHOLOGY: Professor F. C. Courtice and Dr. Bede Morris —Lipid metabolism and atherosclerosis, functions of lymphatic system, disorders of cardiopulmonary functions. Dr. G. B. Mackaness and Dr. S. Boyden—lmmunology.
