Certificate Of Engineering
The standard set for the New Zealand certificate of engineering was not too high, said Mr R. H. Stewart at a meeting of the council of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. “We want the best people for the trade,” said Mr Stewart. The standard was equal to that of the English engineering guild and a pass was acceptable for continuation to
a degree, said Mr W. H. Price. The standard was acceptable to tradesmen willing to work in their spare time. An ordinary tradesman had been one of the first to obtain the New Zealand certificate, said Mr Stewart.
