First Day Of Last Round The first day’s play of the tenth • and final round of the Suburban Cricket Association’s competitions began on Saturday. Beckenham soon got on top of the Aranui bowling and scored 278 for the loss of five wickets in 180 minutes before declaring. N. Davidson top scored with 70 not out. Aranui had 53 for four at close of play. Sumner also scored at a fast rate against Matchless. Only R. Steele, in scoring 76, was at all comfortable, but was unfortunately run out when his century was in sight. Matchless had little difficulty in passing its opponent’s total. New Brighton found the Waltham attack hard to manage •and were dismissed for 134, J. Moorhead taking five wickets Waltham, with a first innings win necessary to win the championship, batted slowly and lost two wickets for 38 in reply. SENIOR A Beckenham 278 for five dec.
