NOTED OWNER DIES
Mr J. H.G. O’Brien, Of Wellington Mr J. H. G. O’Brien, of Wellington, who was well known in racing circles both as an owner and as the proprietor of a horse transport business in Wellington, died on Thursday. Mr O’Brien raced several horses over a long period but the ones with which he had most success were Dhofar and Ruve. both daughters of Oman. Dhofar did her racing from the Riccarton stable of F A Roberts until she was sold to an Australian owner. Ruve. which was bred by F. A. Roberts from his outstanding race mare Citril. was bought by Mr O’Brien at the National Yearling Sales at Trentham. She has won several races including the Wairarapa Cup this season.
