SUSPICIOUS FIRE
Factory Badly Damaged The Criminal Investigation Branch is inquiring into a fire which severely damaged the premises of G. G. Brooks and Son. furniture manufacturers, of 99 Tuam street shortly after 8 a.m. yesterday. A fire, of unknown origin, broke out in the same factory about 3 p.m. the previous Sunday, and was the subject of an investigation by detectives. Five units of the Central Brigade answered a call received at 8.11 a m. The blaze had a good hold when the firemen arrived but was quickly brought under control. The cause of the fire, which broke out towards the rear of the building, is unknown. No estimate of the damage could be obtained last evening. The fire last week broke out in the same sawdust beneath a saw bench and some machinery was damaged. Hundreds of pounds worth of furniture were destroyed and practically the whole building will have to be rebuilt The factory will be out of production for some time The ceiling in the machine shop was destroyed. Fortunately the office containing the records of the firm was not touched by the flames.
