! Sir, —I have just received a circular from the Sumner Residents’ Association with an appeal for the beautification of Sumner. Several years ago a member of the association brought up the matter of the restoration of the pedestals which were destroyed by the Army during the war invasion scare. One suggestion was that they be re-erected round the Coronation Plot (Clifton Bay) with the renewal of the light on (the borough stone. I am particularly interested in the .tablet in memory of those gallant nurses and troops (who lost their lives in the Mediterranean when the Marouette was torpedoed. I .would like to know what, happened to the tablet. Is there any money left from ithe Defence Department for the restoration of this work?
