HURUNUI W.D.F.F.
Educational Work Discussed
The quarterly meeting of the Hurunui provincial executive of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers was held recently in the Cheviot Memorial Hall. The wide philanthropic and educational work of the division was discussed by the president (Mrs R. C. Overton). Delegates were asked to interest their branches in the underprivileged peoples of the Pacific area. The housekeeping secretary (Mrs A S. Williamson) reported that four emergency housekeepers had been employed in January, two of these being temporary. Housekeepers were urgently required to go to houses where help was badly needed, she said. Arrangements were made for the fashion parade to be held by a Christchurch firm in the Culverden Hall on April 17 in aid of the provincial and housekeeping funds. Since October a number of well-attended classes on pottery making, painting and cookery had been given by tutors of the Adult Education Department. Mrs A Cowie, of Hawarden, thanked the Cheviot branch for its hospitality.
