ROYAL CAR FOR SALE
Kept In Good Order
IBV ZALIA THOMAS) LONDON, February 15. When a member erf the British Royal Family takes delivery of a new car what happens to the old one? I understand it goes on sale like any other used car. Although the Lord Chamberlain frowns upon the cars being advertised as “royal,” the subsequent owners cannot fail to know the origin and anyone buying a green Lagonda next May, from a certain London showroom, should not be surprised to see the Duke of Edinburgh listed as the previous owner in the log book. Royal cars are naturally kept in tip-top condition and one of the Queen’s Rolls Royces recently passed the compulsory test for 10-year-old cars with flying colours. A Palace spokesman says: “A 10-year-old royal car is better value than most four-year-old cars because of the care and attention it receives.”
