Cricket NEWMAN SHIELD MATCH
Marlborough Wins Easily
(N.Z. Press Association) BLENHEIM, Feb. 20.
Marlborough was untroubled to retain the Newman Shield in the match against Nelson, which ended at Horton Park this afternoon. Nelson, one down for 94 at stumps on Saturday, was out this morning for 207. It was chasing a lead of 454, which it had whittled down to 360 at the close of play on the second day, but this morning the top Nelson batsmen were unable to cope with the speed attack of M. Wilson (five for 28) and B. Neal (three for 71). Scores: Marlborough, 317 and 265; Nelson, 128 and 207.
