Sharemarket Quiet, Prices Ease
The market was quiet when the week’s trading opened on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday. Price movements were nearly all downward.
Whakatane Board Mills new, fully paid shares, advancing from 66s 6d to 68s 3d, made the day’s only advance. Southland Frozen Meat were again firmer on buyers’ quotations.
E.S. and A. Bank, in first business for four months, sold 2s down at 295. Dalgety, in first business for a month, were 3s 6d down at 355. South British Insurance, Wright, Stephenson, Ampol, Fletcher Holdings, G. J. Coles and Northern Roller Milling, all recorded smaller losses.
