PURCHASE BY COBB

N.Z. Mating Planned

Highland May, which was purchased for 510gns on Friday by the American breedertrainer, Eddie Cobb, will remain in New Zealand for some years. When offered at auction on Friday she had a filly foal at foot by Light Brigade and was in foal to the same horse. The Light Brigade filly is to be retained by Roydon Lodge Stud, Ltd., Yaldhurst, vendors of Highland May. Cobb has arranged for Highland May to be mated with Johnny Globe for the next few seasons. He hopes to obtain one or two fillies, which will be sent to the United States where Cobb will race them if they are good enough. Later he win mate them with Adios Butler. Blood Strains Cobb said he wanted to obtain Globe Derby blood from New Zealand and Australia Not only that, he wanted to obtain mares with Star Pointer blood. Star Pointer was the sire of Logan Pointer, which has ap-

peared in the pedigree of almost every champion pacer or trotter in New Zealand and Australia in recent years. Both Johnny Globe and Queen Ayesha, the dam of Highland May, have strains of Logan Pointer blood in their pedigree. The Star Pointer line, a prominent one in the United Sthtes many years ago, was now practically extinct, said Cobb.

Highland May is an unraced sister to Highland Fling and Highland Kilt, and she is closely related to Caduceus, Unite and many other winners.
