With rain setting in this morning and every indication that it will continue, the sting will be out of the track for the second day of the Gore Racing Club’s summer meeting tomorrow. The ground has been like flint for some weeks, and is unlikely to become heavy. The T.A.B. double will be on the Gore Handicap and the Mataura Senior Hack Handicap, for which Underarm and Heart’s Pride, both to be ridden by R. J. Skelton, will be the favourites. Selections:— 11.30 a.m.—Mandeville Highweight: The Tartar. Master Ascot, Vaper. 12.15 p.m.—Gordon Stakes; Robyn’s Lass, John Mac, Sal’s Pride. 1 p.m.—Apprentices’ Handicap: Gay Fox. Reshine, Doune. 1.45 p.m.—Riversdale Plate: Black Simper. War Chime, Dellonza. 2.30 p.m.—Gore Racing Club Handicap: Underarm. Osman. Fire Bar. 3.15 p.m.—Charlton Handicap Happy Birthday, Royal Chant Sabin. 4 p.m.—Mataura Senior Hack Handicap: Heart’s Pride, Scotch Bid. Bold Venture. 4.45 p.m.—Farewell Hack Handicap: Dalmain. Solus. King Pickle.
